More than 100 homes being built on a once historic Bedworth coalmine site are set to go on the market.
As we reported in our newsletter, works on the 28.6 acre piece of land off Astley Lane that has not been used since the colliery closed in 1982, started in the summer.
Now Bellway has confirmed that the first of the 169 new homes will go on the market in February, when a sales office is due to open on site.

Once finished, the development will boast 127 private homes for sale and 42 affordable homes, which will include some one-bedroom apartments.
The developer says that more than a third of the 28-acre site will be public open space, including a children’s play area and cycle paths.
Marie Richards, sales director of Bellway West Midlands, said: “We have already started construction at Astley Fields and work is on schedule to open the sales centre on site in early 2022.
“We are also planning to open two showhomes at the development in the spring, which will showcase the high-quality homes being delivered here from Bellway’s flagship Artisan Collection.
“Astley Fields is a transformative development that is providing much-needed new homes to the area and giving a new lease of life to this historic site, which was once home to part of Newdigate Colliery.
“We’ve seen a great deal of interest in the development already as people in the area look to be part of this exciting new community in Bedworth.”
The development will be part of Bellway’s Artisan Collection and will boast a mix of two, three and four-bedroom houses.
Plans for Astley Fields were rubber-stamped by Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council back in May and, as part of this, Bellway will be investing more than £2.83 million into local infrastructure and facilities.
“In line with the planning agreement, Bellway is heavily investing back into local services by making financial contributions towards education, hospitals, sports facilities and bus service improvements in Bedworth,” the sales director added.
Prices of the homes at Astley Fields have yet to be confirmed.
