The final Hollidaysburg Heritage Guided Tour date until 2022 is Saturday, Nov. 6. Openings remain for both Port Hollidaysburg/Canal Basin and Historic Homes guided tours. An optional brunch is offered, from 11 a.m. to noon, with a choice of tour from 12:15 to 1:45 p.m.
The tours are recommended for anyone interested in history, achitecture, engineering marvels or just an enjoyable, educational event.
More information and tickets are available at hhgtours.org. Tour tickets are $12 per person, or $24 for both tour and brunch. The brunch includes a bonus presentation, with interesting historical tidbits.
The focus of the Historic Homes tour is exterior architecture of the homes and information on builders, the homes’ inhabitants and their contributions to the community. The tour concludes at the Historic Hollidaysburg Inc. Museum, where participants get to see mid-1800s interior decor, furnishings, artifacts and photos. The tour also includes exclusive access to the Reiser House Museum. A dedicated group of volunteers guide participants on the walking tours.
Ticket cost is to defray expenses. Tours are managed by the Hollidaysburg Area Public Library, and any proceeds will benefit the library.
